Psychometrics (BPS)

Do you or could you utilise psychometric assessments for the purposes of individual coaching, career development or recruitment and selection? If so, this programme is for you. This programme is designed for practitioners who wish to develop or refresh their skills in the administration, interpretation and evaluation of Psychometric tools, and in the process become an accredited and registered user of these tools with the British Psychological Society . Why You Should Attend: 

The focus of this practical programme is to quickly translatetheory into skills that you can apply in the workplace. Upon completion of this programme you will be qualified to obtain BPS Level A & B (Intermediate Plus) certification. This course also provides the opportunity to register to use assessments from a variety of Publishers including:

Who Should Attend:

This course is designed for practitioners interested in:

  • Developing an awareness of best practice in the application and evaluation of psychometric tools for the selection or development of people.
  • Developing best practice skills in the interpretation and feedback of self awareness development tools.

Programme Outline:

  • Appreciating individual differences and how these may be assessed using diverse assessment tools
  • Evaluating different types of assessments for application in selection and development contexts
  • Developing personal skills in administering assessments, interpreting results and giving feedback on psychometric tools
  • Understanding best practice issues in ensuring the delivery of fair, efficient and effective assessment solutions

Participant Commitment

Participants will attend four training/contact days (delivered in 2 modules of 2 days each), which will provide the opportunity to work in a small group on case studies and individual skills assignments. Individualised feedback will be provided throughout the programme. In addition to the face-to-face contact participants must complete pre-, during and post-course assignments which form an integral part of the Certification process, these include:

  • Pre course assignment utilising texts on the history of objective assessment
  • Complete an ability 3 general assessment tools (between modules)
  • Complete 2 observed skills practices and 2 scenario based case studies (within the course)
  • Complete 2 written reports (post-course)

  • The focus of this programme is to quickly translate academic knowledge and understanding into skills that you can apply in the workplace
  • Modules are limited to 8 delegates with a faciliator to participant ratio of 1:4 throughout
  • All candidates are allocated a BPS qualified personal tutor to provide you with telephone/written support and guidance on all aspects of the Certificate, including answering any queries you have, clarifying programme content and supporting you to complete assessment successfully
  • The modules are held on a face-to-face basis, allowing you time to focus on the subject as well as benefit form networking with fellow professionals
